LGBT issues of Turkey was discussed at Human Rights Association of Turkey

Human Rights Association of Turkey held a conference about “Sexual Orientation and Discrimination” on January 29, 2005.

Human Rights Association of Turkey (www.ihd.org.tr/eindex.html) held a conference about “Sexual Orientation and Discrimination” on January 29, 2005. The participants were Ms. Aysegul Arikan from Lambda Istanbul (www.lambdaistanbul.org), Mr. Umut Guner from LGBT Network of Amnesty International (www.ai-lgbt.org), and Mr. Ali Erol from KAOS GL (www.kaosgl.com/english).

The conference took place on January 29, 2005 at Human Rights Association of Turkey Building. Ms. Arikan talked about “What are the rights of LGBT people?”. Mr. Guner talked about two main topics: “Discrimination based on sexual orientation and human rights” and “ Sexual Orientation and International Law”. Mr. Erol’s presentation’s topic was “Human Rights Movement in Turkey and Homosexuality” which provided information about KAOS GL’s experience on Turkish LGBT movement since it was founded. (KAOS GL is a LGBT organization in Turkey, fighting against discrimination)
