Kaos GL Symposium 2004

Socialization Policies on Education and the Reflections on Gay and Lesbian Students
23 - 24 October 2004, Saturday - Sunday

Our second symposium’s main topic is “socialization policies on education and the reflections on gay and lesbian students”.
Education is defined as all the actions which the matured adults apply to the immature, growing individuals in order to prepare them to the rules of the society. The process in which they apply the actions is called socialization. This process is lived by the homosexual individuals as if they are heterosexuals.

The compulsory education can be translated as the compulsory heterosexuality. There is no opportunity for gays and lesbians to gain their original personalities. Because of the psychological, social and cultural problems they face during their education period; gays and lesbians have difficulties in integrating into the society.

Acknowledging the reality of gay and lesbian students in the education system and enacting policies which respect to this reality will help to have a solution more peacefully and progressive. We hope this symposium will be a step further.

Teachers, parents, psychologists, trade unionists, students who are gay, lesbian and heterosexual, everybody dealing with education…We expect your contributions, suggestions and participations to “Socialization Policies on Education and the Reflections on Gay and Lesbian Students”
