Gay, Lesbian, and Transsexual Café Shut Down in Turkey, Proponents Protest

On April 26, 2007, the Turkish daily Turkish Daily News reported that gays, lesbians, and transsexuals were protesting in Bursa after their café was closed by the local government.
According to the daily, the café was shut down because it did not have a management license.
Organization of Solidarity, Protection and Culture for Gays Lesbians, and Transsexuals head Oyku Evren started the café four days ago. He called on officials not to force members of his community into prostitution and asked the local government to provide them with jobs.
